This Malus domestica ‘Lord Lambourne’ grows in my garden. It was planted in 2013 and espaliered on a south facing wall. My dad taught me how to espalier fruit trees and how to create the wire frame. This particular type of apple was selected because it is a heritage crop from 1907. A lovely crisp desert apple and heavy reliable cropper. Every year from September to mid November I look forward to biting into its first juicy and mildly acidic fruit.

The brown lipped snail on this painting (Cepaea nemoralis) is a common site and it is not an invader. On the contrary, it is a beneficial asset to the apple tree in helping it remove fungi or algae on leaves and stems, it actually seldom eats fresh leaves or fruit but prefers to feast on dying or decaying leaves.
