Framing requirements

Please choose a 4.2cm Ash frame with a flat profile, preferably 2cm deep.

We have looked for mounts that work with a variety of hot press papers*,

Please choose from either of these:

  • ColourMount – Museum Range Bright White (no longer an option as the Company no longer exists)
  • Dayler Mount Board – White Core, Lily White

*this list of papers is not exhaustive and was matched with the mount boards to find a good mount that worked with bright white through to yellow/cream – New Fab 5, Fluid 100, Hahnemuhle, Moulin du Roy & Arche

Preparing Paintings

Paintings must have D ring fittings with string.

Labelling

For authentication purposes, and to allow checking of the paintings against the list of paintings submitted, we ask that all works must have the following information written on the back – either directly on the backing board or on a securely fixed sticker:

– Original watercolour / charcoal drawing / coloured pencil / mixed media etc – choose which best fits your piece or use your own description
– Title of work
– Scientific name
– Artist’s name
– Artist’s signature
– Price
– Year completed (optional)

It is very important that this information is securely fixed to the back of each painting and has the same title as on the application form as it will be checked before hanging.
